In a move to enhance Cambodia’s cassava exports to China, the Union of Safe Vegetable Communities of Cambodia and Global Ecological Rice (Cambodia) Co., Ltd. have signed a significant memorandum of understanding (MOU).
The MOU signing ceremony took place on March 11, 2023, in Phnom Penh, and was presided over by Pak Samay Soniti, the Undersecretary of State of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries, along with Chou Makara, representing the Union of Safe Vegetable Agriculture Communities of Cambodia, and Chai Muchi, the General Director of Global Ecological Rice (Cambodia) Co., Ltd.
Makara emphasized the need for careful preparation to bolster cassava exports and expressed the commitment to push for increased exports this year. To meet the demands of Chinese buyers, the stakeholders will collaborate to study and address any existing shortcomings, ensuring stability in production to cater to the buyers’ needs effectively.
Chai Muchi, the General Director of Global Ecological Rice (Cambodia), highlighted their prior efforts in studying Cambodia’s land and geographical location in conjunction with Guangxi Tropical Research Institute. As per the company’s requirements, the Chinese government has given approval for the export of Cambodian products to China.
This collaborative effort signifies a significant step towards boosting Cambodia’s cassava exports to the Chinese market, fostering stronger economic ties between the two nations..
